Everybody! One of my first observations in AA meetings was noticing that people with a creative outlet had a much more attractive recovery. The artists, the writers, the gardeners. They were the ones that called to me. My observations and learning since have led me to believe that developing a connection to self lies within the creativity that exists in all of us, and that in sobriety, especially, we need to learn who we are for a more satisfying sober life. I realised that sobriety was actually a gift, an opportunity to understand what life was about and in order to do I needed to find me first.
Morning Pages is one of my core tools, both for myself and in my work with others. Julia Camerons is the creator of this practice alongside Artists Dates which originated in her book The Artist’s Way. This work is often quoted by successful creatives but actually in its essence, it’s a spiritual path initiated and practiced through creativity. Julia has been sober for more than 35 years and developed The Artists Way as the result of her own sobriety practices.
This course, based on a later book - Living The Artist's Way, is an introduction to her basic toolset and is for both those who are new to her work and those who are already using some or all of them. We will go through her four essential tools of a creative recovery - Morning Pages & Artist Dates, together with her later additions of Artist Walks & Writing for Guidance, with opportunity to share our experiences with others in small, intimate cluster groups.
We will work through the approach that Julia uses in her book Living the Artist’s Way, which covers her core tools of Morning Pages and Artist’s Dates as well as the additional one of Artist’s Walks and introduces Writing for Guidance. I will be providing overviews of the content each week in a recorded one hour zoom call, sharing my experience of doing the work as well as including content from some of her other books. The programme will be facilitated through a private platform, all material being sent through as emails. I will be sending out daily prompts and additional reflections each morning for all 42 days which will include a weekly check-in every Sunday.
Each call will precede the week and there will be a final call at the end of week six to close. All of the calls will be recorded and available for six months following the last call. We start on Friday February 27th 2026 @ 9am PT/Noon ET/5pm BST.
The programme consists of:
- seven live and recorded calls
- breakout groups to support sharing of experiences
- 42 daily reflections sent by email and available in both print and audio
- a private community to share observations and reflections.
Week One
We’ll start with an introduction to the four tools and how to incorporate them into your week with the daily reflections supporting you along the way.
Week Two
This week is about tapping into self care, seeking out the positive in your life, finding a sense of self-worth that will reinforce self-loving decisions.
Week Three
The invitation to calm, to slow, to steady, to find the pause that forges a deeper connection to a benevolent universe.
Week Four
Consciously choosing to bring in optimism into your life, counting the positives that will help you build a grounded and optimistic sense of self.
Week Five
This week will be encouraging you to stay the course, turning to guidance with both past and present issues
Week Six
In this final week, you will come to value perseverance, deepening the practices and hopefully committing to the long-term habits.
We will come together to share our experiences of the course and reflect on the learnings.
"I took the course because I always had heard daily journaling was healing and therapeutic. I would start and stop - unsure what to write, unsure how to journal and then would stop altogether. Going through the course gave me a thorough understanding of why I should journal daily, how to go about it and the importance of daily journaling. A shift happened for me during the course - a shift of understanding, a shift of wonder, a shift of knowing this is what I was missing - I am now committed to daily Morning pages - It is time I carve out for me - first thing in the morning. A cleansing of my mind, helps me set intentions for the day and provides clarity for life issues I have struggled figuring out. Thank you Louise - This course was a missing link and has helped connect the dots of my life."
"I highly recommend participating in Louise’s Artist’s Way course if your creativity is craving a spiritual partner. Mine was and I didn’t even know it. Louise has a natural ability to inspire other artists while infusing everyone with their own trust in the process. Nothing felt forced yet there was such community fusion.
I gleaned so much about myself as a Creator (and about what I can receive when open to my Creator) from following along with the rich curriculum Louise curated. It was an inspiring and eye opening course."
"After years of trying to complete The Artist’s Way on my own and always falling off before the halfway point, this six-week course gave me the structure and encouragement I had been missing. What surprised me most was how different it felt to share the journey with other people doing the same work. Talking openly about creativity was a new experience for me, and hearing others reflect on their creative longings and fears was inspiring.
Louise leads with compassion, clarity and genuine care. She created a space where you can show up as you are, experiment freely, and let go of the need to be perfect. Her daily emails became a steady, inspiring presence, keeping me connected and gently guiding me along the way.
The biggest takeaway from this course was the permission to be imperfect and to explore without pressure. Since finishing, I’ve continued with regular morning pages and feel excited to experiment with music, writing, and small creative projects, simply for the fun of it. I wholeheartedly recommend this course to anyone looking to reconnect with their creativity with curiosity and support."
"I was initially quite anxious as I didn't think of myself as a "creative". One of the best benefits of the course, for me, was rediscovering that I am, indeed, a creative being, though not necessarily in the painting, sculpting and writing way. It's been wonderful to reconnect with my creativity and the things that feed my soul, growing flowers, dancing, singing and baking to name a few. I loved how the Artist's Dates gave me "permission" that is often hard for me to grant myself, to take extra time and care of myself.
The practice of morning pages has been difficult at times, but I am sticking with it on most mornings. I almost always feel more grounded and more connected to myself when I finish the third page.
I also loved the connection on the live sessions and break out groups. It feels so healing to be in the space with like-minded people, especially because early recovery is challenging so many of my relationships with family and friends. I can feel very lonely and isolated. The live calls really helped that."
"I can not recommend Louise’s “Artist Way” highly enough. Louise brings a uniquely beautiful and impactful perspective to this material. When you combine with her breadth of experience, professionalism, caring, and heart with the way that she presents the material, there is no better way to spend a Friday afternoon. The course flew by for me and I found my life feeling lighter and more creative almost immediately. I feel quite lucky to have participated in this course and hope to do so again in the future. '
